Netsanet, who goes by Net for short, is an Ethiopian-born artist who lives in Walnut Creek. Her work has been shown at the Bedford Gallery in Walnut Creek and around the United States. She works with a variety of mediums and draws deep inspiration from issues of social justice.

When we launched Rise Up Against Racism, Netsanet Tesfay was the first artist who we met and commissioned. She has been an incredible partner to our organization and has painted three beautiful Little Free Antiracist Libraries, two located in Walnut Creek and one proudly displayed in Burlingame, with more forthcoming.

Netsanet’s Libraries celebrate and honor the Black experience. She engages bright colors, and her Libraries are lined with beautiful fabric. We are thrilled to work with Net and are inspired by her creative vision. Be sure to follow her work on Instagram @kokebstudio.

“As an artist, I hope to empower and inspire people with my work. I was thrilled to have the chance to create pieces that meet the moment.”
