Our Founders
Meg Honey (she/her) is a longtime Social Studies educator, currently teaching at Northgate High School in Walnut Creek and serving as an adjunct faculty member at Saint Mary’s College of California and at University of the Pacific. She is a dynamic and award-winning teacher who is deeply committed to cultivating inclusive learning communities, and she has written and presented extensively about social movements for liberation, LGBTQIA2S+ history, culturally responsive education, and antiracist pedagogy. Her work has appeared in Edutopia and The Social Studies Review. Meg earned a Master’s Degree in United States History at San Jose State University, is a certified educational trainer with the Southern Poverty Law Center, and was Mount Diablo Unified School District’s Teacher of the Year in 2017. A regular moderator for the Lesher Newsmakers Speaker Series, Meg has been in conversation with David McCullough, Martin Luther King III, Michael Beschloss, Abby Wambach, and Nikole Hannah-Jones.
Sarah brings more than 18 years of marketing and PR experience to the Rise Up Against Racism team. An accomplished marketing strategist, Sarah has expertise developing and implementing brand awareness campaigns for clients in real estate, retail, hospitality, technology and consumer products. She is currently the VP of Marketing and Communications for Del Sur Creative, a relationship-based marketing agency that believes that generosity is contagious and regularly supports nonprofit organizations and individuals in need. Sarah graduated Summa Cum Laude from UCLA and is a full-time work-at-home-mom of three.
Jenny has spent nearly 20 years in high-tech marketing, primarily working with early stage start-ups. Her passion for building companies and teams from the ground up has translated into establishing the Marketing function for multiple start-ups and high growth companies. She has previously led marketing teams and executive positions at Vontu, Symantec, Lookout, and Gladly. Jenny is currently the founding Marketing leader and VP of Marketing at Patch, a climate tech company that enables people and businesses to take action against climate change. Like many women and our other two founders, she is also serving as Chief Mom Officer to her two daughters and new puppy. Jenny attended UC Santa Barbara with a BA in Communications. Throughout her college and post-college career, she has been passionate about mentoring young people and being an advocate for diversity as well as fighting racial injustice.
